AUSTIN M SMITH
Since joining Patterson in the fall of 2016, Austin has been directly involved in the closing of a number of advisory and financial transactions encompassing over $100 million of debt and equity placement in markets throughout the Southeast. Coming from an institutional lender, Austin is able to rely on his past experience to understand how capital may view and underwrite various opportunities. In his current role, Austin prepares offering materials through detailed financial analysis, market studies, and asset due diligence, while also interfacing with capital and clients.
Prior to joining Patterson, Austin was an analyst for JP Morgan’s Real Estate Banking group, providing balance sheet loans to institutional real estate developers, investors, and operators. In his role at JP Morgan, Austin focused on originations, underwriting, credit analysis, structuring, and loan closing. In over a year, Austin worked on over $5 billion of loan opportunities and participated in the funding of more than $1 billion across over 20 transactions. Prior to JPMorgan, Austin was an intern for GE Capital Real Estate in Atlanta where he learned valuable skills supporting the Southeast Originations team in reviewing commercial real estate transactions from receipt of deal package through loan closing.

Having grown up in Alpharetta, GA, Austin is an Atlanta native now living in Midtown. In his spare time, Austin enjoys playing golf, running, and attending concerts.
